Senior Consumer Lending Underwriter

People Driven Credit Union is looking for a Senior Consumer Lending Underwriter to join our lending team. In this role, you'll make sound lending decisions, support team members, and deliver exceptional service that puts our members first. 

Position Summary:

The Senior Consumer Lending Underwriter serves as the primary centralized lending authority for consumer, small business, and home equity loan decisions. This role evaluates loan applications using established underwriting guidelines and policies while balancing sound credit decisions with outstanding member service.  As a trusted resource for the lending team, you'll provide guidance on loan decisions, lending products, and underwriting standards while ensuring every member receives prompt, professional, and personalized service.

What You'll Do:

• Analyze consumer, small business, and home equity loan applications of varying complexity, value, and risk.
• Evaluate loan files and make sound credit decisions in accordance with Board-approved lending policies and internal underwriting guidelines.
• Determine appropriate documentation requirements for approved loan applications.
• Review documentation to ensure all underwriting conditions have been satisfied before funding.
• Structure lending solutions that meet members' financial needs while strengthening their overall relationship with the credit union.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for the lending team regarding underwriting decisions, lending policies, and loan products.
• Develop expertise in advanced consumer, small business, and home equity lending concepts.
• Deliver informed, accurate, and exceptional service to members and internal team members.

Education:

• 2 year degree or the equivalent education, experience and training.
• Previous or current NMLS Certification.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years’ underwriting experience, including home equity underwriting.

**Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and criminal background screening.
