Job Description - Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer

Eaton\u2019s AER FED Fluid Electrical Distribution division is currently seeking a Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer at our Torrance, California facility!\n\nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $99000 - $145000 a year. \n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nEaton Aerospace\u2019s Torrance, California facility has an opening for a Senior Continuous Improvement Engineer/ OPEX Coordinator within our Fluid and Electronics Distribution division. This position is responsible for planning and executing lean manufacturing initiatives to drive operational performance including but not limited to reduction of safety hazards, rework, scrap, manufacturing lead time, excess inventory, cycle time, and process waste. This role will also drive a culture of excellence through the organization\u2019s implementation of the Eaton Business System. \n \nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: \n\u2022 Develops and executes Annual Improvement Plan for implementation of Eaton Continuous Improvement System (ECIS) to drive key improvements tied to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity \n\u2022 Develops site CI knowledge through conducting trainings on ECIS Tools and ECIS Management system components. Build organizational CI competency through development of CI Tool Champions at site. \n\u2022 Leads or facilitates key Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs) focused on deploying one or more ECIS Tools to drive operational performance for a specific area or process. ECIS Tools include: 5S+, Standard Work (SW), Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Business Process Improvement (BPI), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Production Process Preparation (3P), and Set Up Reduction (SUR). \n\u2022 Leads management of cost-saving calculations within Costverse tied to continuous improvement at the site. Significantly supports execution of cost saving projects to meet site cost saving goals tied to continuous improvement. \n\u2022 Develops operational excellence through driving Eaton\u2019s Operational Assessment (OpA) progress with Site Leadership Team. \n\u2022 Drives daily accountability and a problem-solving culture at site through building key ECIS Management components including Tier 1 deployment, 5S+ Audits, and use of Structured Problem Solving (A3) method. \n\u2022 Facilitates the site\u2019s Continuous Improvement Council, driving discussion with site leaders to further ECIS Tool and Management System development \n\u2022 Leads efforts tied to building CI engagement through ownership of site idea sharing program and CI recognition \n\u2022 Supports site automation and growth roadmap through investigation of new technologies or methods (i.e. Industry 4.0 and automation efforts) for improving manufacturing processes to eliminate waste. \n\u2022 Identifies and deploys opportunities for improvement and standardization within areas a part of layout changes at site\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelors Degree in an Engineering field\n\n\u2022 Minimum two (2) years\u0027 experience with lean manufacturing and driving at least 1 Continuous Improvement event\n\n\u2022 This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.\n\n\u2022 Relocation is not offered on this role. Candidate must currently live within 50 miles of Torrance, California, or be current Active Duty military, to be considered\n\nPreferred:\n\n\u2022 Lean Six Sigma Green Belt\n\n\u2022 Experience with Eaton Business System (EBS) or Eaton Continuous Improvement System (ECIS)\n\n\u2022 Experience working with PCB Assembly or in an ESD environment\n\n## Position Criteria:\n\n\u2022 Expert in lean manufacturing system including training, planning and implementation of tools (and/or demonstrated capability and intellectual rigor) \n\u2022 Position requires strong analytical skills and understanding of problem-solving tools/methods (A3, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Six Sigma) \n\u2022 Understands role of quality and variation reduction in driving operational improvement \n\u2022 Understanding of budgets and cost drivers \n\u2022 Broad knowledge of product and manufacturing processes \n\u2022 Understands Eaton Business System \n\u2022 Strong communication skills and comfort with facilitating teams/groups and working with all levels in the organization \n\u2022 Strong computer skills \n\u2022 Leadership to manage projects and drive for results. \n\u2022 Ability to plan, organize and build effective teams, and motivate others. \n\u2022 Innovative mindset and ability to facilitate team sessions. \n\u2022 Demonstrated application of Lean tools. \n\u2022 Strong presentation skills to groups\n\n#LI-CD1\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
