SENIOR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
OFFICE OF BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS AND DEVELOPMENT
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Development Manager is a key member of the SkillsUSA Business Partnerships & Development team responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, securing, and stewarding corporate, foundation and philanthropic support that advances the SkillsUSA mission and strengthens opportunities for student members and educators.
This position will assist in managing components of the departmental strategic plan within the Office of Business Partnerships and Development to fund programs and core mission delivery of SkillsUSA. This position requires proven fundraising success or transferable skills.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSE OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant professional experience. The ideal candidate must be a deadline and success driven self-starter, have demonstrated attention to detail, an excellent donor stewardship mindset, and be able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously with deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required. Knowledge of moves management and CRM fundraising, preferably Raiser’s Edge, software a plus. Minimum 8+ years professional work experience in fundraising.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Strategic Planning
- Assists and engages in implementing the fundraising strategic plan of SkillsUSA.
- Assists in analyzing performance of departmental events/fundraising activities for effectiveness and to identify areas for improvement and increased efficiency.
Fundraising and Business/Donor Partnership Relations
- Manage corporate donor portfolio as primary SkillsUSA contact for assigned partnerships and prospects; ensure timely renewals and continued partnership growth as a relationship manager of accounts.
- Conduct prospect research and develop a pipeline of potential partnerships through on-going prospecting and solicitation.
- Secure annual and multi-year financial commitments that support SkillsUSA programs, SkillsUSA members, competitions, leadership development, and workforce initiatives.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with industry leaders, foundation representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Experience working with senior corporate executives and decision-makers.
- Maintain consistent and accurate data to assigned constituent records in Raiser’s Edge.
- Meet or exceed assigned revenue, activity, and portfolio-management goals.
- Assist in planning and managing BPD partner events.
Reporting & Analysis
- Develop compelling proposals, grant applications, presentations, and other fundraising materials.
- Demonstrate and translate SkillsUSA programs and priorities into clear business and philanthropic value propositions.
- Provide accurate activity and pipeline (partner and prospect) reports as required.
- Responsible for managing portfolio of partners and prospects and stewardship of accounts.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with departmental and organizational team to fully implement departmental and organizational strategic plan.
- Collaborate with SkillsUSA staff to ensure partner benefit delivery.
- Participate in designated departmental and organizational meetings.
Other Job Duties
- Willingness to travel for meetings, conferences, and SkillsUSA events.
- Required to attend the annual staff retreat and National Leadership and Skills Conference.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Senior Director of Business Partnerships & Development.
