The pay range for this role is Min - 150,000 - Max - 185,000 . excluding incentive opportunities. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location. Hired applicant will be eligible to receive (discretionary/nondiscretionary) annual bonuses and incentive compensation.

Position Summary 

The Sr. Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the development of innovative cordless and connected power tool platforms from concept through production launch. The role provides technical and organizational leadership for a cross-functional team of mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, and design engineers supporting New Product Development (NPD), innovation, product enhancement, and cost optimization initiatives. 

This leader will drive execution of strategic programs across the Power Tools portfolio, ensuring products meet customer requirements, quality expectations, regulatory standards, cost targets, and schedule commitments. The role serves as a key member of the engineering team and works closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Marketing, and global engineering centers. 

Key Responsibilities 

Engineering Leadership 

• Lead and develop a team of mechanical, electro-mechanical and product engineers. 

• Establish clear technical priorities, project ownership, and resource allocation. 

• Coach and mentor engineers to strengthen technical depth, innovation, and leadership capabilities. 

• Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

New Product Development 

• Lead engineering execution for cordless and connected power tool platforms. 

• Ensure adherence to IR product development processes, stage-gate reviews, and engineering best practices. 

• Drive successful execution of complex programs from concept through commercialization. 

• Balance innovation, customer requirements, manufacturability, reliability, and cost objectives. 

Mechanical & Mechatronics Systems Development 

• Provide technical leadership in:  

• Gear trains and power transmission systems 

• Impact and clutch mechanisms 

• Motor integration 

• Battery-powered tool systems 

• Electromechanical assemblies 

• Sensors, controls, and connectivity 

• Tool calibration and measurement systems 

• Guide architecture decisions involving mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software integration. 

Product Validation & Reliability 

• Ensure robust validation plans including:  

• DVP&R 

• Reliability testing 

• Environmental testing 

• EMC/EMI compliance 

• Product safety certification 

• Lead resolution of technical issues using structured root cause methodologies. 

Project & Portfolio Management 

• Partner with Product Management to translate market opportunities into executable engineering programs. 

• Manage engineering budgets, project timelines, and resource plans. 

• Support executive reviews by providing status, risk assessments, mitigation plans, and recommendations. 

Global Collaboration 

• Partner closely with engineering teams in North America, India, and Asia. 

• Support supplier qualification and technical reviews. 

• Drive consistency of engineering standards, tools, and processes across geographies. 

Innovation & Technology Development 

• Lead technology roadmaps aligned with strategic business objectives. 

• Drive invention disclosures, patent generation, and advanced engineering initiatives. 

• Evaluate emerging technologies including:  

• Smart fastening 

• Connected tools 

• Battery technology 

• Motor control systems 

• IoT-enabled solutions 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field. 

• 10+ years of engineering experience in product development. 

• 5+ years of people leadership experience. 

• Demonstrated experience leading complex electromechanical product development programs. 

• Strong understanding of:  

• Mechanical system design 

• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) 

• GD&T 

• FMEA 

• Reliability engineering 

• Product validation processes 

• Experience with CAD platforms such as Creo or equivalent. 

• Proven track record of successfully launching products into production. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical, Electro-mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Management.  

• Experience in:  

• Cordless power tools 

• Assembly tools 

• Industrial equipment 

• Motion control products 

• Knowledge of:  

• Brushless DC motors 

• Battery management systems 

• Embedded controls 

• Wireless communication technologies 

• Global engineering leadership experience. 

• Patent development and innovation leadership experience.
