Location: San Diego, CA. This is an on-site position for an attorney who enjoys collaborating with colleagues in person and being closely connected to an active litigation practice.

Note: Candidates must have 5+ years of hands-on removal defense experience, be fluent in Spanish, hold an active state bar license in good standing, and have experience supervising or mentoring attorneys or legal staff.

Job Description

• Serve as a senior attorney and team lead within our removal defense practice.
• Independently manage removal defense matters from strategy through resolution.
• Represent clients before Immigration Court (EOIR) in master calendar hearings, individual merits hearings, and bond hearings.
• Handle matters before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
• Work on related federal litigation, including habeas corpus, mandamus, and Administrative Procedure Act matters.
• Draft persuasive briefs, motions, applications for relief, and other complex legal filings.
• Develop case strategy and provide clients with clear guidance throughout the removal defense process.
• Communicate directly with Spanish-speaking clients regarding sensitive and complex immigration matters.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop junior attorneys and legal staff.
• Stay current on immigration law, litigation developments, and evolving court procedures.
• Lead internal seminars and share knowledge on removal defense and immigration litigation issues.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active state bar membership in good standing.
• 5+ years of hands-on Immigration Court and removal defense experience.
• Fluency in Spanish, including professional communication with clients.
• Prior supervisory or mentoring experience.
• Strong knowledge of EOIR proceedings and removal defense strategy.
• Excellent legal research, writing, courtroom advocacy, and case management skills.
• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload and make strategic case decisions.

• Salary Bands (Only if attorney role):

• 5 to 6 years: $105K to $110K
• 7 to 8 years: $110K to $115K 
• 9+ years: $115K to $120K+ (recruiter-created bands based on client range)
