Senior Ocean Freight Supervisor

What You'll Do

As the Ocean Import & Export Operations Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of our Ocean Import/Export department while leading a team of experienced professionals. Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead, mentor, and develop Team Leaders and operational staff to ensure exceptional performance and customer satisfaction.


• Oversee daily ocean import/export operations, including customs clearance, documentation, cargo movement, and shipment execution.


• Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs, FMC, DOT, TSA, and all applicable trade and transportation regulations.


• Manage customer escalations, shipment delays, claims, service issues, and operational exceptions with professionalism and urgency.


• Monitor staffing, workloads, productivity, and departmental KPIs to ensure operational efficiency and service excellence.


• Improve operational workflows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and identify opportunities to increase productivity and profitability.


• Support new customer implementations, account retention, and business growth initiatives.


• Conduct employee coaching, training, performance evaluations, and career development planning.


• Collaborate with customers, overseas offices, carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, truckers, and internal departments to ensure seamless operations.


• Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic operational planning.


• Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment focused on continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3+ years of Recent Ocean Import/ Export experience within a freight forwarding environment.


• Previous experience as a Team Lead, Lead Agent, Supervisor, or similar leadership role.


• Strong knowledge of ocean import/export operations, customs clearance, shipping documentation, and regulatory compliance.


• Proven ability to lead teams, prioritize workloads, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.


• Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).


• High school diploma or equivalent; additional logistics or supply chain education is a plus.
