Senior Piping Designer

Waldemar S. Nelson is seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design of piping systems for industrial projects, including oil & gas, power generation, and processing facilities. You will develop and review piping layouts, isometrics, and detailed drawings while ensuring compliance with industry codes and project specifications. The Senior Piping Designer will collaborate closely with engineers, drafters, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality design solutions and mentor junior team members to enhance overall project performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed piping designs, layouts, and isometric drawings in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Review and verify piping design documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with project engineers and other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior piping designers and drafters.
• Ensure compliance with codes such as ASME B31.1, B31.3, and client specifications.
• Perform quality checks, clash detection, and resolve design issues.
• Maintain project documentation and status reports.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in piping design, preferably within oil & gas or industrial sectors.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SmartPlant P&ID, or CADWorx.
• Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards including ASME B31.1 and B31.3.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
