Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Systems Engineering Team Lead \u2013 Capability Upgrade Program to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.\n\nIn this role you will be a dynamic Systems Engineering (SE) leader to drive the technical execution of a high visibility capability upgrade program. You will orchestrate all SE disciplines\u2014Safety, Requirements \u0026 Verification, Specialty Engineering, and Configuration \u0026 Data Management\u2014while ensuring the program meets schedule, cost, and performance objectives. This role demands a hands on technical expert who can also act as a catalyst for process improvement, leveraging deep experience with IBM DOORS to maintain rigorous requirements traceability throughout the product lifecycle.\n\nRoles and Responsibilities will include:\n\n * Leadership of Verification Planning\n * Direct day to day coordination across multidisciplinary boundaries and with USG counterparts.\n * Ensure review deliverables are complete, technically sound, and aligned with program milestones.\n * Proposal \u0026 Estimating Support\n * Contribute technical expertise to long term effort proposals, cost estimates, and schedule forecasts.\n * Requirements \u0026 Verification Management (DOORS)\n * Ensure requirements are captured, traced, and verified throughout the lifecycle.\n * Develop and maintain DXL scripts to automate routine tasks, generate custom reports, and improve data consistency.\n * Process Improvement\n * Conduct periodic SE process reviews; identify bottlenecks and implement best practice enhancements.\n * Lead continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., root cause analysis, lessons learned capture, tool integration).\n * Skills Needed\n * Substantial experience and proficiency with DOORS\n * Experience using Earned Value Management\n * Experience briefing or leading technical reviews\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 8 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master\u0027s Degree in a STEM field and at least 6 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and at least 4 years of relevant military / professional experience\n * Must have a DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).\n * Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Advanced STEM degree\n * Advanced user of IBM DOORS\n * Strong knowledge of safety engineering, Requirements \u0026 Verification, and specialty engineering domains\n * Team-lead experience\n * Risk Analysis\n * Prior experience with capability upgrade programs\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.\n\nThe application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
