Senior Retail Lending Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Retail Lending Manager at F & M Bank is responsible for leading and managing the Consumer Lending and the Home Loan Lines of Business. This role involves developing lending strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations, assessing loan applications, and managing a team of Home Loan Officers and Senior Home Loan Officers. The manager collaborates with other departments, monitors loan portfolios, and works to enhance customer relationships. Strong leadership, analytical skills, and knowledge of lending practices are essential for success in this role.

OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE:

• Manage and lead a team of Home Loan officers, providing guidance, training, and support to achieve lending objectives while fostering a collaborative and motivating work environment. 
• Work directly with branch leadership to increase lending skills across branches. 
• Foster positive relationships with clients, ensuring exceptional service and addressing customer inquiries or concerns related to consumer lending products.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as credit analysis, operations, and marketing, to streamline processes and enhance overall lending efficiency.
• Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies, and implement improvements to consumer lending processes and products accordingly.
• Collaborate with product development teams to introduce new consumer lending products or modify existing ones, considering market demand and profitability.
• Ensure that all compliance and regulatory expectations are met including a strong focus on internal Quality Control.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Formulate and implement effective consumer lending strategies aligned with the community bank's goals and market conditions.
• Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies in all lending activities, maintaining a high standard of legal and ethical practices.
• Ensures departmental compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and best practices including completion and maintenance of documentation and records.
• Represents retail lending division to external vendors. 
• Evaluates consumer loan and home loan applications, analyzing financial data, credit reports, and other relevant information to make informed lending decisions.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with consumer and home lending, employing risk assessment tools and strategies to maintain a healthy loan portfolio.
• Regularly monitor and analyze the performance of the consumer and home loan portfolios, identifying trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.

• This position provides leadership to 8-10 positions directly and up to 15 indirectly to support our lending efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience, preferred 
• 7-10 years relevant experience in consumer and mortgage lending 
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience 

Knowledge and Skills:

• Proven understanding of lending and collection/bankruptcy regulations, lien laws and loan documentation. 
• Ability to organize and analyze financial information and to accurately perform complex financial calculations.
