Senior Revit Technician – Scan-to-BIM / Existing Conditions

Location: On-site in Richmond, VA (relocation assistance offered)

Salary: $75,000–$110,000, commensurate with experience

About the role

We're recruiting a Senior Revit Technician to lead our client's Scan-to-BIM modeling work. This role requires real, hands-on experience coordinating scan data and Revit models with design and construction teams. You'll lead the modeling work, set the standard for quality and workflow, and train junior designers as they grow into the role. This is an individual contributor and technical mentor position.

This role is a strong fit if most of your Revit work has been modeling existing buildings from point clouds, such as retrofits, renovations, and as-builts, across architectural, structural, and MEPF systems.

Key responsibilities

• Convert point cloud data into detailed Revit 3D models and 2D AutoCAD drawings, ensuring precision in capturing as-built conditions.


• Create, modify, and manage Revit 3D models and 2D AutoCAD for architectural, structural, and MEPF systems, maintaining high accuracy and alignment with project specifications.


• Lead BIM coordination across architectural, structural, and MEPF teams to ensure model consistency across disciplines.


• Conduct clash detection and lead coordination resolution meetings with relevant project teams, ensuring streamlined integration across disciplines.


• Work directly with the field capture team to ensure scan deliverables meet modeling requirements before work begins.


• Create, update, and maintain Revit templates and CAD standards, promoting efficient workflows and model consistency across the team.


• Train and mentor junior designers on Revit workflows, Scan-to-BIM techniques, and coordination practices.


• Support project managers by aligning BIM deliverables with project schedules, scopes, and budgets, and assist with project documentation and as-built creation.


• Maintain accurate project documentation, model updates, and BIM logs, ensuring a clear project history for handover and compliance.


• Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and general contractors on model coordination and schedule milestones, including helping clients interpret complex existing conditions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Revit experience at an engineering firm, architecture firm, general contractor, or reality capture firm that uses scan data and Revit models to coordinate design and construction. Experience with existing conditions, renovation, or retrofit work is strongly preferred.


• Demonstrated experience converting point cloud and reality capture data into accurate Revit models.


• Hands-on modeling experience across architectural, structural, and MEP systems.


• Proficiency in BIM coordination, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD, with direct experience in architectural and MEP coordination.


• Experience supporting project management efforts and managing BIM project deliverables against schedule and budget.


• Comfortable training and developing less experienced designers without formal management authority.


• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability across complex, multi-discipline model requirements.


• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for effective cross-functional teamwork with clients and field teams.


• Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in BIM and MEP coordination.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Must pass a background check.


• Must pass a drug screen.


• Must be able to work overtime as required.


• This is an on-site role in Richmond, VA; occasional travel to job sites for coordination may be required.


• Must have a valid driver's license.


• Available to work normal business hours, 8 AM–5 PM EST.
