Heartline Staffing is recruiting an experienced Senior Tax Accountant for a full-time hybrid opportunity in Waverly, Iowa.

This position is designed for an experienced public-accounting professional with a strong background in complex taxation who is looking for long-term growth, client advisory responsibility, and a potential path toward firm ownership.

COMPENSATION
• $80,000-$100,000 annually, depending on experience

WORK ARRANGEMENT
• Full-Time
• Hybrid
• Minimum 3 days per week in the Waverly office
• Candidate must already reside within commuting distance of Waverly or be able to commute consistently
• Relocation assistance is not provided

TAX PREPARATION & PLANNING
• Lead the preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns.
• Prepare and review returns for individuals, C-Corporations, S-Corporations, and Partnerships.
• Provide proactive tax planning based on each client's financial circumstances and goals.
• Apply current federal and Iowa tax requirements to client engagements.

CLIENT ADVISORY
• Serve as a trusted advisor to business and individual clients.
• Provide tax and financial guidance based on clients' personal and professional circumstances.
• Identify opportunities to provide broader financial solutions and strengthen long-term client relationships.

TECHNICAL RESEARCH & COMPLIANCE
• Conduct research involving complex federal and state tax matters.
• Stay current with evolving tax legislation and compliance requirements.
• Support resolution of IRS and state-level tax inquiries.
• Ensure tax filings are accurate and compliant with applicable requirements.

MENTORSHIP
• Provide guidance and technical review to junior accounting staff as needed.
• Support accuracy, consistency, and professional development across tax engagements.

Requirements
• 5+ years of progressive public-accounting experience REQUIRED
• Significant experience with corporate, partnership, and individual taxation REQUIRED
• Experience preparing and reviewing complex federal and state tax returns REQUIRED
• Strong understanding of tax compliance, planning, and technical research REQUIRED
• Experience with standard tax preparation and accounting software such as UltraTax, CCH, or comparable platforms REQUIRED
• Ability to work in the Waverly office at least 3 days per week REQUIRED
• Must currently reside within practical commuting distance of Waverly, IA or be able to commute consistently REQUIRED

Preferred
• CPA - Certified Public Accountant
• EA - Enrolled Agent
• Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior accounting staff
• Familiarity with Northeast Iowa businesses and individual tax clients
• Interest in pursuing future firm ownership
