We are seeking a Senior UC Platforms Engineer with strong hands-on experience supporting Cisco telephony infrastructure and the server platforms that power enterprise unified communications environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, optimization, and lifecycle management of Cisco Unified Communications infrastructure, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco UCS, and VMware-based telephony environments.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in infrastructure engineering, virtualization, automation, and troubleshooting, along with the ability to support highly available telephony platforms and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Cisco CUCM, Cisco Unity Connection, and related Cisco UC application servers.
Perform server builds, operating system patching, cluster configuration, and failover setup for telephony platforms.
Manage capacity planning, resource allocation, and performance tuning across the telephony server environment.
Administer virtualized telephony servers using VMware and Cisco UCS, including provisioning, snapshots, and resource management.
Manage Cisco UCS infrastructure through Cisco Intersight Managed Mode (IMM), including server profiles, policies, and firmware compliance.
Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate server provisioning, configuration management, and routine maintenance.
Monitor server health, system logs, and infrastructure performance while troubleshooting incidents affecting telephony services.
Support backup and disaster recovery processes, including DRS backups and restore testing.
Coordinate hardware and firmware maintenance, replacement, upgrades, and end-of-life planning with vendors.
Support integrations between telephony infrastructure and adjacent systems, including SBCs, gateways, voicemail, and call recording platforms.
Perform root cause analysis and provide escalation support for server-related incidents.
Document server architecture, build standards, and maintenance procedures.
Collaborate with UC Tier II/III engineers, subject matter experts, and networking teams to support broader collaboration infrastructure.
Strong hands-on experience installing and maintaining Cisco CUCM, Cisco Unity Connection, and IM & Presence servers.
Proficiency with Cisco UCS hardware and VMware virtualization for telephony workloads.
Experience managing Cisco UCS infrastructure through Cisco Intersight, including Intersight Managed Mode (IMM).
Experience administering Linux-based appliance operating systems supporting Cisco UC applications.
Solid understanding of telephony protocols, including SIP, H.323, MGCP, and SCCP.
Experience with Cisco Unified Serviceability, RTMT, and Disaster Recovery System (DRS).
Knowledge of clustering, redundancy, and failover design for highly available telephony platforms.
Experience with storage, backup, and disaster recovery practices for application servers.
Scripting or automation experience with Ansible, PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
CCNP Collaboration or equivalent Cisco certification.
VMware certification.
Cisco Intersight or UCS certification.
Familiarity with ITIL practices.
