Senior UX Consultant (6068-1)

We are seeking an experienced Senior UX Consultant to join a collaborative team of 20+ engineers and product managers dedicated to modernizing the rider experience across major bus and subway networks. In this role, you will champion user-centered design, drive design system consistency across web, mobile, and digital signage platforms, and directly influence how millions of passengers navigate public transit daily.

Key Responsibilities

UX Strategy & Design Systems

• 
  

  Develop, scale, and maintain comprehensive design systems and style guides to ensure visual and functional consistency across all digital platforms (including transit signage).

  
  


• 
  

  Partner closely with UX Research (UXR) to gather qualitative and quantitative insights, identify rider pain points, and maintain continuous user feedback loops.

  
  

Collaboration & Communication

• 
  

  Work side-by-side with Product Managers, Engineers, and Brand/Creative teams to align user needs with strategic organization goals.

  
  


• 
  

  Present design concepts, prototypes, and research findings clearly to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

  
  

Process & Quality Optimization

• 
  

  Establish, document, and scale UX processes, workflows, and industry best practices across the engineering and product organization.

  
  


• 
  

  Implement user testing frameworks and continuous quality control measures throughout the product lifecycle.

  
  

Required Qualifications

• 
  

  8+ years of professional experience in UX design, with a primary focus on mobile applications and complex digital product ecosystems.

  
  


• 
  

  6+ years of hands-on experience in User Interface (UI) Design and scaling modern design systems.

  
  


• 
  

  6+ years in a UX Leadership role, demonstrating strong capability to advocate for user-centered design practices.

  
  


• 
  

  6+ years of Advanced Communication Skills, with a proven ability to present complex design concepts to executive-level stakeholders.

  
  


• 
  

  Proven experience building and shipping products in fast-paced Agile development environments.

  
  


• 
  

  Deep proficiency with industry-standard UX/UI tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) paired with outstanding visual design skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to solve complex, multi-layered design challenges.

  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  

  Prior background in transportation, mobility, public transit, or civic technology sectors.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong working knowledge of digital accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
