Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) located in Roy, UT is seeking a Sr. Principal Metals \u0026 Corrosion Material Process Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. \n\nWhat You Will Get To Do:\n\n * Responsible to perform full spectrum of corrosion management tasks on assigned system and sub-systems to ensure streamlined risk identification, risk mitigation, and tracking of corrosion issues during the design of weapon systems and equipment under an overarching Systems Engineering framework.\n * Develop/maintain/review \u0026 approve Corrosion Prevention and Control Plans(CPCPs), PPSLs, PAMPLs of all design teams and their major sub suppliers and perform issue tracking and risk mitigation for all corrosion issues.\n * Demonstrates a complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts relative to service life estimation and corrosion\n * Demonstrates general knowledge of Systems Engineering, multi-generational program system and/or multi-generational program subsystem development, and familiarity with supplier management.\n * Works independently to provide innovative technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.\n * Create, analyze, and produce roadmaps, impact, and issue reports and present data to stakeholders, customers, and upper management.\n * Research specifications and standards to support metals and corrosion engineering processes.\n * Research technical, corrosion data sources using Government and commercial sources.\n * Review and evaluate engineering solutions, design, and technical data for corrosion impacts. Follow Systems Engineering disciplines and processes. Assist in the Hexavalent Chromium prevention process.\n * Maintain close coordination with several integrated product teams, provide detailed status to program leadership, participate in Corrosion Prevention and Advisory Board meetings, as required.\n * Self-motivated, work under general direction, and work well in teams.\n * Collaborates with systems engineers, design engineers, project managers, reliability engineers, and external customers for establishing corrosion best practices for galvanic assessments, service life predictions, failure analysis, and 3D modeling.\n\n\n\nThis positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. \n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline\n * Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience\n * U.S. Citizen\n * Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.\n * Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance\n * Previous experience leading projects\n * Familiarity with metallurgical engineering\n * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and 3D models\n * Experience with AWS and/or ASME welding specifications\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Degree in Corrosion Engineering or Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Chemical Engineering, OR Materials Engineering.\n * Familiarity with Corrosion, metallurgy, welding, mechanical properties, materials properties, etc.\n * Understanding of process/procedure development, control, and improvement\n * Demonstrated passion for corrosion, metallurgy, material properties, etc.\n * passion for being a creative or out-of-the box thinking\n * Test Plan Writing and reviewing experience negotiation soft skills\n * Experience reviewing \u0026 approving materials and processes to be added to Program Approved Materials and processes list\n * Familiar with Service Life Testing, reliability sampling, and failure analysis,\n * Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance\n * Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities\n * Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.\n * Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner\n * Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team\n * Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success\n * Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
