Sheet Metal Installer
The basic function of the Sheet Metal Installer is the installation of architectural metal such as soffit, fascia,
standing seam, composite panel, metal shingles, cap metal etc. primarily for commercial roofing.
Essential Functions
• Work with team member(s) to complete all aspects of jobs assigned by the company, including tear-off,
repairs, installation, measuring for product lay-out, material prep, and other jobs as assigned.
• Be prepared to learn any-and-all aspects of jobs assigned by the foreman or lead man as necessary for
job completion.
• Be on time for all shifts and ready to go at the assigned time with all personal tools and PPE.
• Work safely.
• Assist in setup and tear down of safety equipment as instructed.
• Abide by all job-site safety requirements, including PPE, fall protection and others.
• Participate in training.
• Participate in weekly safety meetings.
• Attend all companywide training events.
• Participate in manufacturer system-specific training.
• Participate in all other training as assigned.
• Deliver excellent quality and customer satisfaction.
• Learn to perform work according to company standards.
• Collaborate with the team for the benefit of all.
Competencies
• Must exhibit basic skills necessary to work in roofing.
• Must be able to work effectively with people.
• Able to exert informal leadership with individuals at all levels of a company as well as customers,
vendors, manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors.
• Ability to work with others to accomplish goals; balances team and individual responsibilities; gives and
welcomes feedback.
Supervisory Responsibility
No supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee consistently works in outside weather conditions year-round. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat and/or cold, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud to moderately loud in the field.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Typical hours are Monday-Friday between the hours of 6am to 5pm (typically 8-10 hour days) depending on seasonal
daylight hours, weather, production demands and contract duration. Weekend work is expected if weather delays occur
Monday through Friday.
Travel
Location of work varies depending on project.
Education/Requirements
High School Degree or GED.
