Ingalls Sheetmetal Mechanic , you'll help build the systems that keep America's most advanced naval vessels moving, ventilated, and mission-ready. From ductwork to engine exhaust systems, your craftsmanship ensures precision, performance, and reliability across the ship.

What You Can Earn •
Earn up to $35.99 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

What You'll Do • Fabricate and install a wide range of sheet metal components, including:
- Ductwork
- Ventilation systems
- Main engine exhaust assemblies
- Metal containers and housings
- Instrumentation panels
• Plan, lay out, and execute work using shop math, blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Use cutting, forming, and fastening tools to achieve precise, high-quality installations.
• Work in an active shipyard environment that may involve varying conditions, heights, and confined spaces.
• Maintain safety practices that meet - and often exceed - industry standards.

What You Bring • Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong shop math and layout skills
• Commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork
Must Have Requires a minimum of four (4) years of sheetmetal experience or related craft experience in joiner, shipfitting, and/or carpentry.
Nice to Have Prefer candidates with the ability to set up and operate a variety of sheetmetal machines such as brakes and shears, pass a skill assessment test, ability to read marine blueprints, and work from standard and metric specifications.
