Sheetmetal Technicians levels (JM1, JM2, JM3)

Position Summary:

Talent Source is hiring Sheetmetal Technicians at multiple levels (JM1, JM2, JM3) to support shipyard manufacturing and repair operations. This role involves fabricating, installing, and repairing sheetmetal components for ships, reading blueprints and technical drawings, operating hand and power tools, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Candidates will be placed based on skills, experience, and certifications.

Job Duties:

  Fabricate, assemble, and install sheetmetal components according to specifications.

  
  


• 
  

  Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders.

  
  


• 
  

  Operate hand tools, power tools, and sheetmetal machinery safely and efficiently.

  
  


• 
  

  Cut, bend, fit, and finish sheetmetal parts to precise tolerances.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform welding, soldering, or fastening as needed for assemblies.

  
  


• 
  

  Inspect work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with company standards.

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain a clean and safe work environment and wear required PPE at all times.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist in training and mentoring junior-level sheetmetal technicians as applicable.

  
  


• 
  

  Document materials, job progress, and work completed.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  

  JM1: 1–2 years of sheetmetal fabrication experience; ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.

  
  


• 
  

  JM2: 2–4 years of sheetmetal experience; ability to read blueprints, operate machinery, and perform precise fabrication.

  
  


• 
  

  JM3: 4+ years of advanced sheetmetal experience; able to lead complex projects, mentor junior technicians, and troubleshoot fabrication challenges.

  
  


• 
  

  High School Diploma or GED required.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong math skills and ability to measure and cut accurately.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. and work on feet for extended periods.

  
  


• 
  

  Must speak and understand English; bilingual preferred.

  
  


• 
  

  Commitment to teamwork, safety, and high-quality workmanship.

  
  

Pay Range: $24 – $34 per hour (DOE and level of placement)

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday; typical shifts 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. (swing shifts may be assigned). Occasional overtime and weekend work as required.
