Job Description - Shipping Clerk

Key Responsibilities


Order & Shipment Support



  • Pull and pick orders against pick lists provided by the Shipping Coordinator, verifying quantities and part numbers.

  • Pack, label, and stage completed orders for outbound pickup, ensuring loads are secure and correctly organized.

  • Enter and update shipment information in Radius to reflect picked, packed, and shipped status.

  • Flag inventory shortages, damaged goods, or partial-fulfillment issues to the Shipping Coordinator promptly.

  • Assist the Coordinator in meeting daily shipping deadlines and shifting priorities as volume demands.


Documentation & Recordkeeping



  • Prepare and print Bills of Lading (BOL), packing lists, and shipping labels as directed.

  • Scan and file BOLs and shipping paperwork to the designated folders for recordkeeping and customer service reference.

  • Apply PRO numbers, address flags, and carrier documentation to outbound pallets.

  • Maintain accurate, legible records and help reconcile paperwork against completed shipments.


Freight, Parcel & Material Handling



  • Operate a forklift to load, unload, move, and position palletized freight safely and efficiently.

  • Stage outbound freight in dock and pickup areas and assist drivers with loading as needed.

  • Retrieve parcel packages from the front office area and process shipments through FedEx and UPS shipping stations.

  • Use a pallet jack to move palletized freight and a ladder to access elevated storage or racking.

  • Keep the shipping floor, dock, and staging areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.


Returns & Inbound Support



  • Assist with inbound returns and reverse logistics paperwork (RMAs) under the Coordinator’s direction.

  • Help receive, sort, and put away returned or inbound material as needed.


Physical Safety



  • Follow all warehouse safety protocols and PPE requirements around pallets, dock areas, and machinery.

  • Maintain current forklift certification and operate equipment in accordance with company and OSHA safety standards.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Current forklift certification required (or ability to obtain within a company-defined timeframe).

  • 6 months–1+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or material handling preferred.

  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (Radius or similar) and FedEx/UPS shipping software a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work cooperatively with the Shipping Coordinator and warehouse team.

  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to lift and carry cartons/packages up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to operate a forklift to load, unload, and position pallets (certification required).

  • Ability to operate a pallet jack to move palletized freight.

  • Ability to safely use a ladder to access elevated storage or racking.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and remain on the warehouse floor for extended periods.
