Shipping Supervisor

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Overseeing the daily operations of the Shipping department


• Ensuring safety procedures are being adhered to


• Setting goals and following up on the progress of those goals


• Enabling associates to be cross trained within the Shipping department


• Verifying all paperwork is completed correctly and turned in daily


• Training and retaining employees in a positive and professional manner


• Maintaining product integrity


•  Ensuring trucks are loaded properly, efficiently and with urgency


• Verifying the cleanliness of the cooler, dock and all Shipping grounds are maintained in an acceptable manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Operate a floor jack and have a basic knowledge of loading


• Read and understand necessary reports


• Ability to perform all the functions of the Clerk in their absence


• Communicate instructions to the yard driver as well as Security


• Prior Supervisory experience in food distribution is helpful


• Effective coordination between Shipping and Production


• Possess the ability to effectively train associates for retention.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree.


• Food Manufacturing experience.

Work Environment:

• Work is normally performed in a sub-zero freezer/warehouse/production environment.


• As part of the job requirements, employee will be exposed to working in a warehouse setting with cold temperature (-20) at times.


• Must be flexible with work schedule that supports a 24-hour production facility.
