Sign Builder - Crater/Loader

Position Summary:

Crater/Loaders are primarily responsible for the proper crating and loading of completed signs. Duties include building wooden shipping crates for products, loading trucks/trailers for shipment, planning loads for similar destinations, and optimizing space.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

•  Read and understand blueprints, drawings, written procedures, and verbal instructions.
•  Cut lumber and other materials with panel, miter or radial arm saws, and other hand tools. 
•  Assemble boxes, crates or other materials to prepare finished products for secure shipping.
•  Read and understand the computerized shipping schedule to ensure on-time delivery.
•  Load trucks/trailers for shipment.

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

•  High school diploma/GED.
•  Proficient use of computer for reading a shipping schedule, loading pictures, and unloading trucks when needed.
•  Ability to use hand tools and power saw.
•  Rough carpentry skills.
•  Proficiency in basic math.
•  Ability to use a tape measure. 
•  Ability to operate forklift and overhead crane.
•  Ability to stand and walk in approximately a 200 ft. radius for 8-10 hours/day.
•  Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50-80 lbs. 
•  Ability to maintain correct postures while reaching, bending, crouching, kneeling, and twisting.
•  Ability to reach horizontally across a work surface beyond 12” from the body up to full body extension.
