Job Description - Site Carpenter

Vertical Solutions · Job sites across Salt Lake County, UT · $25–$30/hour

Build the Walls People Climb

You've put in the years. You can read a set of plans, frame it square, and leave a site cleaner than you found it. Now put those skills to work on something different: steel, plywood, and concrete that turn into climbing walls people will be on for the next twenty years.

About Vertical Solutions

Vertical Solutions designs and builds climbing walls for gyms. Our field crews take projects from bare floor to finished wall: steel, panels, concrete, and every detail in between. It's real construction with real deadlines, and the work you finish is something people will trust with their full body weight.

About the Role

As a full-time Site Carpenter on our field operations crew, you'll handle the hands-on build of climbing wall projects, from steel erection and panel installation to concrete, demo, and site prep. You'll report to the Project Foreman and work on job sites around Salt Lake County, often with the client watching. Pay is $25–$30 per hour, based on experience.

This is a role for someone who can show up, get the day's assignment, and run with it without anyone looking over their shoulder.

What You'll Do

  • Build wood and steel structures, install wall panels and steel, and handle concrete work, demolition, and scaffolding setup

  • Run hand, power, and pneumatic tools along with heavy machinery, safely and correctly every time

  • Read printed and digital plans, estimate materials and equipment, follow SOPs, and run quality checks on your work

  • Work at height on lifts and in harnesses, keeping two points of contact and following rope access safety standards

  • Follow OSHA standards and wear your PPE: hard hat, vest, glasses, the works

  • Keep your site organized and clean using 5S, and treat craftsmanship as a point of pride

  • Log your time and materials accurately every day

  • Back up your crew and other trades, and pitch in on general labor like sweeping, inventory, and runs for supplies

  • Start your day on your own, either picking up a company vehicle or heading straight to the site

  • Represent the company well in front of clients with a clean, professional presence

What You Bring

You're likely a strong fit if:

  • You have at least five years of professional carpentry experience

  • You can lift 75 lbs regularly, stay on your feet all day, and work comfortably at height and in rough weather

  • You know your way around plans, measuring tools, and construction materials

  • You manage your own time and get the job done without supervision

  • You communicate clearly with your foreman, crew, vendors, and clients

  • You stay professional and courteous on a client's site, because the customer's experience is part of the job

  • You like a good checklist and believe a consistent process is what makes quality work repeatable

Perks & Benefits

  • Paid time off

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Life, short-term disability, long-term disability, and accident coverage

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Free climbing gym membership

  • Discounts on food and merchandise
