Position Summary
Delaware Valley Excavation is seeking an experienced and dependable Site Foreman to oversee daily field operations on excavation and site development projects. The Site Foreman is responsible for coordinating crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.
This position requires strong field leadership, knowledge of excavation and site work, and the ability to effectively communicate with project managers, superintendents, customers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field crews performing excavation and site development work.
- Coordinate daily jobsite activities, manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Review project plans, specifications, scopes of work, and daily priorities with the project team.
- Plan and communicate daily work assignments to field personnel.
- Ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
- Monitor job progress and communicate production, scheduling concerns, delays, or field issues to the Project Manager and/or Superintendent.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite.
- Conduct daily safety discussions and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees properly use required PPE and follow safe operating practices.
- Coordinate equipment utilization and identify equipment or maintenance needs.
- Verify materials and deliveries are appropriate for scheduled work.
- Assist with layout, elevations, grades, and interpretation of construction plans as needed.
- Oversee excavation, grading, backfilling, site preparation, drainage, utility, and related site work activities.
- Complete required daily documentation, including production reports, timekeeping, equipment usage, and jobsite records.
- Monitor employee performance and provide direction, coaching, and training to field personnel.
- Communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Identify potential project issues early and work with management to develop practical solutions.
- Protect company equipment, materials, and other assets assigned to the project.
- Perform additional duties as required to support successful project completion.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in excavation, site development, heavy civil construction, or a related field required.
- Previous foreman or field leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of excavation, grading, drainage, utilities, site preparation, and general earthwork operations.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and jobsite requirements.
- Ability to effectively lead and coordinate field crews.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced field environment and adjust to changing project conditions.
- Ability to operate or understand the operation of excavation and heavy construction equipment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
- OSHA training and other applicable certifications preferred.
