Position Summary


The Differentiated Literacy Instructor (DLI) is responsible for providing targeted small-group reading instruction to elementary students in grades K–5. The instructor will utilize assessment data to differentiate instruction, address individual student needs, and support literacy growth through engaging, standards-based lessons. This position requires a Florida Educator Certificate and a strong commitment to student achievement.



Duties and Responsibilities



  • Provide high-quality small-group literacy instruction for students in grades K–5.

  • Deliver differentiated reading interventions based on student skill levels and assessment data.

  • Create and maintain an engaging, structured, and supportive learning environment.

  • Implement research-based literacy strategies that promote reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary development, and foundational reading skills.

  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs.

  • Analyze student assessment data to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and academic progress.

  • Collaborate with Site Managers, Teacher Assistants, and program staff to support student success.

  • Provide guidance and instructional support to Teacher Assistants assigned to literacy groups.

  • Maintain direct supervision of students at all times to ensure safety and compliance with program policies.

  • Follow established schedules, transitions, and program procedures.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns when necessary.

  • Participate in required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.

  • Support positive behavior management strategies that promote student engagement and success.

  • Adhere to all Big Ideas Educational Services policies, procedures, and chain of command.



Qualifications



  • Valid Florida Professional or Temporary Educator Certificate (Required).

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of classroom teaching experience, preferably in elementary education.

  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, reading intervention strategies, and differentiated instruction.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations and varying academic skill levels.

  • Ability to analyze assessment data and use results to guide instruction.

  • Excellent classroom management and student engagement skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.

  • Successful completion of a Level II Background Screening.

  • Ability to complete all required childcare and program training requirements.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, reliability, and a commitment to student achievement.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Reading Endorsement or Reading Certification.

  • Experience with intervention programs, progress monitoring tools, and small-group instruction models.

  • Experience working in after-school or summer enrichment programs.
