Social Services Aide 2

This is a merit hire position. The starting pay rate for this position is $16.00 per hour. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Children & Youth Services is currently accepting applications for a full-time position of Social Services Aide 2. This is routine non-professional direct contact work in the Children and Youth Agency.

An employee in this position performs liaison, messenger, and escort tasks to assist professional social services staff to meet the needs of their clients. He/She makes routine entries in case files, and provides input to professional staff based on observations and interaction with clients and others in the discharge of their duties. The incumbent may perform basic clerical tasks and reports to a Casework Supervisor.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:

• Graduation from high school or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency.

• Or an associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training and an associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Other Requirements:

At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
