Job summary:

We are looking for a Social Studies Teacher who is responsible for designing and delivering student-centered learning in Social Studies. The focus of the position is to provide direct instruction to students to help them learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their social, emotional, and academic development. The right candidate believes that students learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and stay engaged even when learning is challenging. Essential job functions are as follows but not limited to:

• Plan and teach Social Studies courses


• Build motivation and interest in learning


• Prepare effectively for class and provide documentation of students’ progress.


• Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based practices


• Develop an environment that supports student learning

Education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree


• Content area teaching certificate is preferred but not required at the time of hire


• Teachers will need to obtain Pennsylvania certification, and the school will support staff in completing the required coursework and process


• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a school setting is preferred but not required
