Social Worker / Counselor As Needed

Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker

Make a meaningful difference by helping patients and families navigate the emotional, social, and mental health challenges that can accompany illness and life changes. In this role, you’ll work independently as a professional counselor, providing compassionate assessment, counseling, treatment planning, and support to help patients and families achieve the best possible level of individual and family functioning.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and mental health assessments.


• Assess and diagnose behavioral and mental health needs within the scope of your licensure.


• Provide professional counseling and emotional support to patients and families.


• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on identified needs.


• Connect patients and families with appropriate community resources, programs, and services.


• Provide education, information, and referrals to support patients as they adjust to illness and other health-related challenges.


• Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, families, and other members of the care team.


• Help patients and families identify strengths, resources, and strategies that support optimal functioning and well-being.

What You’ll Bring

Education

• Master’s degree in Counseling from an accredited institution.

Experience

• One year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Current Maryland licensure appropriate to the degree held.


• Must be licensed at a minimum of the graduate level.


• Applicable credentials may include LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, or LCPC, as appropriate.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of counseling principles, practices, techniques, and professional standards.


• Knowledge of community organizations, resources, and social service programs.


• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect effectively and compassionately with individuals from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.


• Ability to work autonomously while providing patient-centered, professional counseling services.
