The Software Project Manager will provide oversight to the full lifecycle of Software Development and Delivery for material handling and automation projects. You will additionally be part of an innovation team responsible for new Software Product R&D and integration with new hardware products developed at Savoye. As part of this role, you will ensure that specifications are clear and are met by developers, tasks are completed on schedule and meet quality standards, and the project budget is maintained. Having an energetic,
proactive, team-oriented approach is essential.
Qualification, Education, and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering related experience depending on level applying (Mid-Level 3-5 years, Senior 5+).
- Preferred Discipline: Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or Business
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Atlassian Products, Azure DevOps
- Previous project management experience preferred
- Experience with logistics and material handling including warehouse management, execution, and controls systems preferred
- Strong communication and organization skills as well as strong independent work habits
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Adept at risk assessment and mitigation
Essential Job Functions
- Work with Sales for a smooth transition between project signing and project kick-off
- Understand the core business needs and KPIs of the customer and assist in translating the requirements into a Functional Specification Document
- Maintain project requirements and project backlog during the delivery phase
- Nurture good customer relations with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Assist in building Integration Specifications for identified systems as part of the overall delivered solution
- Manage software budget as part of the overall MHE or R&D project budget
- Provide project design input from the perspective of a subject matter expert
- Focus on ensuring the quality, maintainability, and the supportability aspects of software development and delivery
- Schedule resources and tasks working with the various constraints and dynamics of the project, customer, and internal teams
- Assist in developing the testing approach, test plans and training plans for the final delivery
- Work with the QA Lead and Commissioning team to assist in managing the on-site implementation and testing, aligning the required development and additional delivery team resources required to be successful
- Coordinate and provide customer training and post go-live support
Additional Responsibilities and Requirements
- Provide regular project reports to keep the customer and project team updated, conduct conference calls, and schedule on-site meetings
- Assist in gathering software requirements and maintaining software project backlog in close coordination with the Development Lead
- Act as project subject matter expert for the software team and assist in training and onboarding new team members over time
- Work as part of an Agile software team embracing the Agile Scrum process
- Provide input and feedback on software design and architecture
- Manage overall software delivery schedule and ensure requirements are being met
- Act as a key player in the coordination of testing, troubleshooting, and customer system acceptance
- Interface with Systems Project Manager and Site Manager to schedule onsite activities and software deliveries
- Facilitate training with customer and with internal teams
Working Conditions
- This position requires 20-30% travel to job sites to support project delivery.
- Most tasks, projects, and communication with clients, team members, and Managers will be completed using a telephone, microphone, computer, and video technology (Teams).
- Long periods of speaking, sitting, standing, typing, and may be required.
- Although this is a full-time, Exempt position (40 hours per week), extended hours and evenings may be required based on client needs.
