Sonographer - PRN - Outpatient

BJC Outpatient Imaging is currently seeking an experienced Sonographer I for a PRN position supporting our outpatient imaging centers in Chesterfield, O'Fallon, and Sunset Hills, MO.

Position Status: PRN
Schedule: As needed to provide coverage for PTO and staffing gaps
Locations: Chesterfield, O'Fallon, and Sunset Hills

About the Role:
As a Sonographer I, you will perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams in a fast-paced outpatient setting while providing exceptional patient care. Working under the direction of the Radiology Medical Director, you will follow established imaging protocols, ensure patient safety and comfort, maintain equipment and quality standards, and collaborate with physicians and the imaging team to deliver accurate diagnostic studies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations. 
• Produce high-quality images for physician interpretation. 
• Review patient history and verify exam orders. 
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the imaging process. 
• Assist with ultrasound-guided procedures as needed. 
• Maintain equipment, quality assurance standards, and exam room readiness. 
• Collaborate with physicians and fellow team members to provide outstanding patient care. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sonographer seeking a flexible PRN schedule while working with a collaborative, patient-centered outpatient imaging team.    

EXPERIENCE:        

• Up to 5 years experience as a licensed Sonographer.        

EDUCATION:        

• Must be a graduate of an approved program of diagnostic sonography.  
• Must be vascular certified.       

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:        

Must be registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) or ARRT (S). For IDTF centers, OB, Abdominal, or General certification is required upon hire, and RVT certification is required within one year of hire. Non-IDTF centers require RVT certification along with OB, Abdominal or General within one year of hire, where applicable. Additionally, must meet the state licensure requirement for the state in which they practice.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:        

• Skill in operation of Sonography equipment as well as applicable ancillary equipment.        
• Ability to work independently and multitask.        
• Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.        
• Demonstrates understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.        
• Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.
