Southeast AHEC Regional Program Coordinator

Reporting to the AHEC Director, the Southeast AHEC Regional Program Coordinator supports Illinois AHEC and Rural Health Transformation (RHT) initiatives by developing and coordinating healthcare workforce pipeline programs, fostering community and educational partnerships, engaging students in healthcare career exploration, and supporting grant-funded efforts to strengthen the rural healthcare workforce across Southeast Illinois.

Grant-Funded Position: This position is funded through the Illinois AHEC and Rural Health Transformation (RHT) programs and is contingent upon continued grant funding, organizational needs, and satisfactory performance.  Funding is anticipated to continue for a multi-year grant period of up to five years; however, grant funding is awarded and reviewed on an annual basis and is not guaranteed from year to year. 

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare, public health, education, workforce development, business, or a related field preferred, OR


• Associates degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

• Experience in program coordination, education, outreach, workforce development, healthcare, student engagement, mentorship, partnership development, or grant-funded programs.


• Experience with schools, colleges, healthcare organizations, community partners, or rural health initiatives preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data management/reporting systems.


• Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.


• Ability to manage multiple projects, maintain accurate records, analyze data, and meet deadlines.


• Knowledge of healthcare workforce development, healthcare career pathways, rural health issues, and community outreach preferred.

Other Requirements

• Ability to travel throughout the Southeast Illinois service area.


• Flexible schedule to support events and program activities as needed.


• Ability to maintain professional relationships and confidentiality.

Essential Responsibilities

• Coordinate, implement, and evaluate healthcare career pathway and workforce development programs.


• Develop and facilitate student programs, workshops, career fairs, job shadowing opportunities, and healthcare career exploration activities.


• Build partnerships with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, workforce agencies, and community organizations.


• Support AHEC and RHT grant initiatives, ensuring compliance with program objectives and reporting requirements.


• Collect, maintain, and report program and participant data.


• Develop presentations, educational materials, reports, and outreach communications.


• Represent AHEC and Wabash General Hospital at meetings, events, and community activities.


• Support organizational goals while adhering to hospital policies, confidentiality standards, and program requirements.
