Sow Care Specialist

SUMMARY:

GJL Farms is seeking to add sow farm caretakers to their team in the western Missouri and Southern Iowa areas.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring sows have appropriate daily care through proper function of feed and water systems and identification of sow illness and injury.
• Assisting in processes involving sow breeding and sow estrus identification.
• Training gilts for Nedap and Gestal feed stations.
• Performing farrowing tasks including processing, vaccination, treatments of sows and piglets and day one care.
• Power washing and load out of weaned pigs and culls.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid driver’s license
• Able to work in confinement buildings
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Able to perform general repairs in office, yards building, and grounds
