Summary

Serves as a Special Agent of the Protective Services Unit (PSU). The PSU is responsible for providing a secure environment for the Chairman of the Board of Governors through the execution of a physical and technical protective program. The Special Agent is responsible for the protection and security of the Chairman.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs the full range of protective duties to include\: provides close proximity protection to the protectee in residence (as required), at the workplace, during domestic/foreign travel, and in places he/she may occupy or visit; covers designated security posts at official or social functions attended by the protectee.
• Takes decisive and immediate action in emergency situations, using whatever force is necessary to quell a disturbance and protect the protectee from any assault.
• When necessary, interviews any person seeking admittance to protected areas, and determines if they constitute a threat to security.
• May serve as press/media liaison, ensuring their activities do not interfere with security arrangements.
• As required, enforces federal law related to the PSU protective mission; cooperates with appropriate investigative agencies; prepares comprehensive reports documenting enforcement action taken; provides testimony as required by prosecuting authority.
• Conducts advance security surveys for protectee domestic and foreign travel to include\: assessing security factors of areas to be visited; developing security plan to be implemented during visit; coordinating security requirements with appropriate law enforcement / public safety agencies, event representatives, host government (domestic/foreign) officials etc; identifies, plans and coordinates operational logistic requirements (travel, housing, equipment, and manpower); prepares required advance survey and post-trip reports.
• Maintains appropriate contact with the Chairman’s staff and other employees and officials of the Board of Governors and the Federal Reserve System. Liaison is also maintained with federal, state and municipal law enforcement/government officials; military officials; foreign government officials; representative of the media; and private sector individuals. Purpose of the liaison contacts is to foster understanding of mutual problems and promote full cooperation in support of the PSU protective mission.
• As directed conducts special projects aimed at enhancing the operational or administrative effectiveness of the PSU.
• Complies with all PSU policies and procedures, BOG administrative requirements, and other applicable laws and regulations.
• Performs other PSU related duties as assigned.

FR 25 - Requires excellent oral and written communications skills typically acquired by completion of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Requires five years law enforcement experience, with a minimum of at least three years small protective detail experience and a comprehensive knowledge of detail protection procedures and security operations. Experience must extend past limo driving operations and include time conducting advance work and preparing security assessments for protective assignments. Must be in excellent physical condition.  Must have an understanding and working knowledge of weapons; must be able to qualify with Board issued weapons.  Must be able to work unusual hours, rotating schedules and travel on short notice. Must be able to meet the requirements for designation by the Board as a federal law enforcement officer under the provisions of the USA PATRIOT ACT of 2001, and qualify for a Top Secret security clearance on the basis of a Single Scope Background Investigation. This position is subject to the Board’s Fitness for Duty policy.

FR 26 - Requires excellent oral and written communications skills typically acquired by completion of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Requires seven years of law enforcement experience, with a minimum of at least five years small protective detail experience and a comprehensive knowledge of detail protection procedures and security operations.  Experience must extend past limo driving operations and include time conducting advance work and preparing security assessments for protective assignments.  Must be in excellent physical condition. Must have an understanding and working knowledge of weapons; must be able to qualify with Board issued weapons. Must be able to work unusual hours, rotating schedules and travel on short notice. This position is located in West Palm Beach, Florida. 

This is a 1-year TERM position with the possibility of annual renewal for up to 5 years.
