Job Description - Special Ed Teacher

Join a Mission that Matters!

Empower Students with Autism and Developmental Disabilities to Learn, Grow, and Thrive

At Ädelbrook, we’ve spent over 125 years helping children build futures filled with achievement, dignity, happiness, and hope. We create learning environments where students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) can achieve their fullest potential — academically, socially, and emotionally.

Are you a passionate educator who believes every student deserves the opportunity to shine?

We’re looking for a Special Education Teacher who can bring creativity, patience, and dedication to a classroom where individualized learning changes lives. This is more than teaching—it’s building confidence, fostering independence, and inspiring hope for the future

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and deliver individualized, engaging IEP-driven instruction that supports each student’s learning goals and is tailored to each student’s strengths and needs

  • Develop and implement lesson plans in alignment with IEPs and curriculum standards

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to meet academic, social, and behavioral needs

  • Foster a safe, structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that supports academic and social-emotional growth

  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to create a unified support system for each student

  • Use evidence-based strategies to promote learning and skill development

  • Track and share meaningful progress updates with families and school teams

  • Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school events

  • Support students during transitions, extracurricular activities, and when behavioral interventions are needed

What You Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (required)

  • Certification: Valid state Special Education certification (required)

  • Experience: At least 2 years of classroom teaching preferred, especially with ASD/IDD

  • Skills: Strong classroom management, adaptability, collaboration, and clear communication

  • Mindset: Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the belief that all students can succeed

  • Training: PMT, CPR, and First Aid (or willingness to obtain after hire)

Why You’ll Love Working Here:
We believe in investing in the people who power our mission. At Ädelbrook, you’ll enjoy:

  • Competitive Pay – Fair, market-aligned salaries and room to grow

  • Affordable Health Coverage – Medical, dental, and vision plans that fit your life

  • Health Savings Account (HSA) – Tax-free savings with employer contributions

  • Professional Growth – Ongoing training, leadership development, and CE support

  • 403(b) Retirement Plan – With employer matching to help you plan ahead

  • Tuition Reimbursement – Advance your education and career

  • Student Loan Matching Program - We will match upto $100.00 per month

  • PSLF Eligibility - As a non-profit we qualify for the Federal PSLF program

  • Generous Time Off– Vacation, sick leave, and holidays so you can recharge

This is your chance to teach with purpose.
Help build a future where every person is supported, seen, and celebrated.
