Special Education Instructional Aide
Location: Mevers School of Excellence
Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Classroom Teacher
Position Overview:
The Instructional Aide provides classroom support to the teacher by assisting with lesson delivery, classroom management, and individual student needs. This role is designed to enhance the educational experience and help students succeed academically.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the teacher with classroom management and lesson implementation.
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students.
Monitor students' progress and help them complete assignments.
Support the classroom teacher with materials, equipment, and resources.
Help maintain classroom order and a positive learning environment.
Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Assist in grading assignments and maintaining student records.
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working with students in a classroom setting.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.
