Special Education Teacher | Middle School | Fairfax, Virginia | $40–$45/Hour

You’ll take ownership of individualized academic and behavioral programs for middle school students, turning IEP goals into daily instruction, support, and measurable progress. Your work will shape how students learn, develop independence, manage challenges, and move toward their academic and behavioral goals.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement IEPs for assigned students


• Plan and deliver instruction based on individual academic and behavioral needs


• Differentiate instruction and select appropriate teaching strategies and interventions


• Implement educational goals across required subject areas


• Monitor academic and behavioral progress and adjust programming as needed


• Prepare report cards, progress reports, and IEP progress narratives


• Communicate with parents, staff, and outside professionals


• Implement individual and group behavior-management programs


• Maintain a structured, safe classroom environment


• Supervise students during transitions, transportation, playground, and other assigned activities


• Manage the classroom budget and report expenditures


• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school activities

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree


• Minimum qualifications for a Provisional Certificate in Special Education at the appropriate middle school level or content area


• Ability to develop and implement IEPs and differentiated instruction


• Ability to support students with emotional, behavioral, and academic needs


• Strong classroom and behavior-management skills


• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary special education team

Preferred

• Experience working with students in special education or a related setting
