Position Title: Special Services Liaison


Reports to: Chief Executive Officer and Principal


Term: Ten (10) month position, salaried

  • The Special Education Liaison serves as the primary point of coordination and communication between students with disabilities, families, general education staff, service providers, and administration. This role ensures that students receive appropriate instructional support, accommodations, and related services in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • The Special Education Liaison facilitates collaboration among stakeholders, oversees IEP development and implementation, monitors student progress, and advocates for equitable access to curriculum and school programs. Strong written and oral communication, organizational skills, and the ability to build positive, professional relationships are essential to this role.

  • Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between students, families, teachers, administrators, support staff, and outside service providers.

  • Coordinate, develop, implement, and manage IEPs and related services in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Analyze student performance data to develop measurable goals and monitor progress.

  • Communicate student needs, accommodations, and instructional strategies to general education staff and support personnel.

  • Facilitate and participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

  • Support and guide staff in modifying curriculum and implementing instructional strategies for students with diverse learning needs.

  • Develop and implement strategies to support students with a variety of disabilities.

  • Provide direct instruction and targeted interventions as appropriate.

  • Teach and reinforce personal development skills, including goal setting, independence, and self-advocacy.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, files, and record-keeping systems while ensuring strict confidentiality.

  • Utilize technology effectively to support instruction, documentation, and communication.

  • Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative, culturally responsive relationships with students, families, and community members, including low- to moderate-income families.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and prioritize responsibilities effectively.

  • Participate in professional development and coaching to strengthen instructional practice.

  • Maintain regular attendance and participate in school events, field trips, and required meetings.


EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's degree with valid PA certification

  • Special Education Teaching Certification (preferred) or Emergency Certification Eligible

COMPENSATION


Initial salary offers for this position range from $47,000 - $75,000. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education. This
