About this job:
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of custodial and facility maintenance equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation across assigned locations. This role coordinates preventive maintenance programs, equipment repairs, deliveries, and transfers while serving as the primary liaison with vendors and internal support teams to ensure timely service and issue resolution. Provides onsite technical support, assists with equipment troubleshooting and repairs, and trains custodial staff on basic equipment operation, maintenance, and minor repairs to maximize equipment performance, extend asset life, and minimize downtime.

What You'll Do:
• Coordinates the maintenance, repair, transfer, and lifecycle management of custodial and grounds equipment for Facility Management Operations, including vacuums, auto scrubbers, mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, and other related equipment
• Performs inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and onsite repairs; coordinates advanced repairs with internal maintenance departments and external vendors to minimize equipment downtime
• Develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to maximize equipment reliability, safety, and service life
• Plans and prioritizes work schedules to ensure timely completion of equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, deliveries, and transfers based on operational needs
• Operates a District vehicle and trailer to transport equipment, parts, supplies, and materials between District locations and vendor repair facilities
• Manages equipment records, work orders, and maintenance history, including tracking labor, parts, repair costs, and equipment performance using the District's asset management and work order systems
• Assists with the management of the department's equipment inventory and fixed assets, including asset tracking, barcoding, acquisitions, transfers, and surplus/disposal processes
• Identifies equipment related safety hazards, ensures compliance with safety standards, and analyzes maintenance data and performance trends to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency
• Trains custodial staff on the safe operation, routine maintenance, proper care, and basic troubleshooting of custodial equipment
• Evaluates repair estimates and invoices, recommends equipment replacements and purchases, and provides technical guidance on equipment selection and lifecycle planning
• Assist custodial operations during snow and ice clearing operations
• All other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need:
- HS Diploma/GED
- 3+ Years of experience in any/all of the above mentioned trades with three years of experience performing similar work
