Job Title:Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Reports To:Director of Student Services Salary:Starting at $48,000 (commensurate with experience and education)
Position Overview
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of high-quality speech and language services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This role is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about helping students develop essential communication skills that support academic success and social-emotional growth.
The SLPA works directly with students to implement individualized therapy plans, provide targeted interventions, and assist in progress monitoring. This position plays a key role in supporting students with a variety of communication needs, including language development, articulation, and social communication.
Key Responsibilities
Implement speech and language therapy plans developed by the supervising SLP
Provide direct services to students individually and in small groups
Assist with speech and language screenings, assessments, and data collection
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including session notes, attendance, and progress monitoring data
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support student progress and carryover of skills
Support students with expressive/receptive language needs, pragmatic language development, articulation, and phonemic awareness
Assist in identifying students who may benefit from speech and language interventions
Participate in meetings as appropriate, including IEP, MTSS, and intervention planning meetings
Adhere to all professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program
Current SLPA licensure or certification (in accordance with state requirements)
Experience working with children or students in an educational or clinical setting preferred
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Familiarity with literacy interventions and phonemic awareness strategies
Experience with progress monitoring tools and data collection systems
Knowledge of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and MTSS frameworks
Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and staff
Flexible, proactive, and student-centered approach
