Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential for supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.\n\nThis position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.\n\nPosition Overview:\n\nThe Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle together, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to meet global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally to enhance performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.\n\nThis position will perform some or all of the following duties, focusing on early-phase (concept, requirements, and design) activities of the Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle.\n\nEssential Functions:\n\n * Lead the development of new system concepts by turning stakeholder needs, gathered through documentation and solicitation, into clear and reviewable technical approaches\n\n * Support both formal and informal engineering technical reviews\n\n * Create, review, and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documents, and engineering estimates\n\n * Engage with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working-level counterparts, as needed\n\n * Work will occur in a restricted area\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\nPlease list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.\n\n * A Bachelor\u2019s Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master\u2019s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience\n\n * Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start\n\n * Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs\n\n * Must have Systems Engineering/Architecture with Test experience\n\n * Conduct requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts like use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to demonstrate understanding of the system\u0027s required behaviors and performance\n\n * Lead the development of physical and logical system models that capture the system under development using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools\n\n * Lead system interface development, as documented in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), by translating system and interface requirements into message-level details sufficient to coordinate interface development\n\n * Participate in Agile planning and execution, including iteration planning and status updates\n\n * Work will be performed as a member of an Agile Scrum team under the guidance of a Team Lead who reports to the C2BMC Regional Systems Engineering Manager\n\n * May serve in project leadership roles and represent the organization as the primary customer contact on important technical issues related to contracts\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Master\u2019s Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred\n\n * Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification\n\n * Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)\n\n * Candidates for this position should ideally possess some or all of the following preferred qualifications:\n\n * Systems Engineer with experience working in a collaborative team environment with other systems engineers, developing solutions that cover all aspects of the Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle\n\n * Proven experience fulfilling all responsibilities of this role\n\n * Regularly engage with customers, especially to gather their needs and requirements\n\n * Experience with one or more parts of the Missile Defense System.\n\n * Experience with one or more elements related to Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions\n\n * Experience with advanced Command and Control Systems, particularly those with extensive networking capabilities\n\n * Experienced in performing many responsibilities of this role, especially in concept development and requirement decomposition\n\n * Experience with MBSE approaches and tools (e.g., Cameo)\n\n * Experience handling tasks where failure to produce good results often leads to project delays and wasted resources\n\n * Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (both in writing and verbally) with others, present technical information, and accept constructive feedback\n\n * Ability to handle short notice or urgent tasks without losing efficiency\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Can Offer You:\n\nNorthrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment that encourages your growth, supporting both your success and the company\u0027s. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
