Bring your bold ideas and fearless spirit to redefine connectivity and transform how people share stories and experiences. At AT&T, you won’t just imagine the future—you’ll build it.

What You'll Do:

As a Senior Specialist Member of Technical Staff, you will work hands-on with technologies that power AT&T’s next-generation mobility platforms at the forefront of 5G innovation.

Our team builds, integrates, tests, and delivers the core systems that enable mobile networks to operate at massive scale. You will play a key role in ensuring these systems are reliable, secure, and ready to support millions of customers.

If you’re passionate about working on complex, large-scale systems and want to make a meaningful impact on the evolution of Mobile networks, this role is for you.

What You'll Bring:

  • Execute lab validation, troubleshooting, and optimization of network systems to meet security, functionality, resiliency, and capacity requirements.
  • Integrate and validate 4G and 5G SDM (Subscriber Data Management) core network functions (e.g. HSS, UDR, UDM) and supporting services to ensure seamless end-to-end operation.
  • Own components and features across the lifecycle—from lab validation through deployment readiness and production support.
  • Partner with vendors and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, drive resolution, and improve system performance.
  • Support large-scale deployments, including rolling out new 5G capabilities to millions of customers in carrier-grade environments.
  • Design and develop automation tools and templates for infrastructure testing, configuration, and change management.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to identify, prioritize, and resolve system issues.
  • Analyze system metrics, logs, and performance data to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, and overall system quality.

What You'll Need:

  • Hands-on experience with deployment and automation tools such as Git, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and platforms such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming, including shell scripting and Python.
  • Working knowledge of databases (SQL or NoSQL) and data management concepts.
  • Solid understanding of system and application monitoring, logging, and performance tuning.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues in complex, distributed environments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (as defined by federal STEM classification).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience troubleshooting network protocols and systems (e.g. routing, security, firewalls, TLS/mTLS, etc).
  • Familiarity with 4G/5G core architectures and service-based interfaces (SBA, REST/HTTP-based communication).
  • Strong understanding of containerization, virtualization, and cloud-based infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems design.
  • Experience in DevOps or similar software engineering roles within large-scale production environments.
