Job Description:

The Information Assurance Systems Engineer is first and foremost a Systems Engineer who is also a subject matter expert in the development of systems and equipment that protect classified National Security information. The Information Assurance Systems Engineer is an ideal position for those with either Systems Engineering academic or industry experience in the design, development, and test of Information Assurance solutions for Defense and Intelligence community customers. 

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for applying security and cryptography expertise throughout the Systems Engineering process to develop and successfully certify National Security systems on time, within the allotted budget, and with low residual risk.


• Within the Security engineering context, primary responsibilities include Concept of Operations development; Requirements decomposition/synthesis; Architecture Development and analysis; Security test planning and execution.


• Act as a single Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography.


• Work with others to coordinate efforts, influence and resolve cross-team issues and effectively communicate changes. 


• Travel up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline. 


• Active U.S. Government security clearance (DoD SECRET minimum). 


• 6+ years of Systems Engineering experience, including work on Information Assurance systems/products. 


• 4+ years applying the full Systems Engineering lifecycle from concept development through system test. 


• At least 3 years of experience in Architecture Development, including functional analysis, requirements allocation and traceability, trade studies, system synthesis, and integration/verification testing.


• 2+ years of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience. 


• At least 2 years of experience with Information Assurance, security, and cryptography. 


• 1+ years of experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), including TLS and certificate/key management.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience in developing NSA Approved products is highly desirable.


• Master's degree is highly desired.


• Understanding of Key Management Systems including: - Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) - Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) - Their impact on the design of End Cryptographic Units (ECUs).


• Proven track record of success and experience in the architecture, design, analysis, integration, and test of NSA Approved Type 1 certified systems or equipment.


• Security architecture development skills, specifically the ability to make complex design trade-offs affecting system security. 


• Experience negotiating security requirements with NSA Technical Evaluators.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $118,306 - $224,575.  This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
