Sr Tax Associate

Pay: Starting at $70,000 per year, plus performance incentives and tax-season bonuses

A growing tax and financial-services office is hiring an experienced Senior Tax Associate to lead complex return work, coach junior preparers, and help grow the client book.

Responsibilities

Tax preparation & advisory

• Review and sign off on complex individual and small-business returns; keep work IRS- and GAAP-compliant


• Explain strategies and tough tax issues in plain language


• Stay current on federal and state tax law

Leadership & quality

• Train and coach preparers and office staff across local branches


• QC transmitted returns


• Track volume, error rates, and retention; flag issues to management

Growth & retention

• Support new-client and retention work through service quality and local marketing


• Spot cross-sell needs (financial and insurance products)


• Own client relationships and year-over-year book growth

Requirements

• 3–5+ years professional tax prep (3 years tax required); accounting/bookkeeping preferred


• Strong 1040 and business-return work; experience reviewing junior staff


• Professional tax software, CRM, Excel, Google Workspace


• Can coach a team and run peak-season workflow


• English required; Spanish preferred


• Associate degree required; bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or business preferred; EA or CPA candidate a plus
