Sr. Tool & Die Maker- Maintenance Machinist

Function:

This position is responsible for supporting production equipment in two high speed container manufacturing plants located close together.  This is a hands on, skilled trade position requiring strong mechanical knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.  This position will be supported by a degreed electrical engineer.  They will be able to work together to solve production problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Repair, maintain, install, and set dies and related tooling, including preventative maintenance and first-piece verification.


• Perform manual machining and fabricate replacement or new die components using machine tools.


• Read and interpret technical drawings, die assembly prints, and specifications.


• Lay out metal stock; set up, operate, and adjust machine tools to manufacture and repair die parts.


• Fit and assemble die components, including shimming and tooling stack-up adjustments.


• Work with and install precision tooling, including carbide components.


• Make jigs, fixtures, and gauges using machinist hand tools.


• Remain on a job until repair is completed.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 5+ years of Tool & Die and maintenance machining experience in an industrial manufacturing environment


• High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in machining or Tool & Die preferred


• Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills


• Proficient in operating machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface and I.D./O.D. grinders


• Experience building, repairing, and maintaining metal stamping dies and tooling components


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications


• Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, etc.)


• Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment


• High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality workmanship


• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams


• Demonstrated ability to support and drive solutions related to die and tooling performance


• Reliable, safety-focused, with a strong work ethic and consistent work record


• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs


• Flexibility to work weekends as needed

Currently, we have four pail plants located strategically throughout the United States to support our customers. At our Streetsboro facility, we have a metal stamping plant to provide component parts for our pails. At our Youngstown facility, we manufacture 1-gallon cans.
