Job Description
We are seeking a Staff Leader, Interior Cockpit to provide seasoned technical leadership and consultation across the design, development, and implementation of interior cockpit systems. In this role, you will leverage deep expertise, creativity, and sound judgment to recommend design and process improvements that enhance product quality, efficiency, and execution across internal activities and product development programs.
As a recognized subject matter expert, you will support and guide Design Release Engineers (DREs) by applying advanced knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to plan and achieve program goals. This position requires originality, strategic thinking, and the ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts across complex and highly visible assignments.
You will collaborate closely with senior internal and external partners to address broad, cross-functional challenges impacting multiple subject areas within the business unit or division. Additionally, you will contribute to strategy and policy development and help establish guidelines for new or evolving technical approaches.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring in the design, development, and implementation of interior cockpit systems
Guide DREs on project definition, scope, execution, and issue resolution
Support early product development through launch, ensuring delivery on time, on cost, and on quality
Drive continuous improvement through closed-loop learning and knowledge management
Lead read-across activities across programs and share lessons learned with other Staff Leaders, EGMs, and DREs
Facilitate and support critical issue resolution, including off-hours support when required
Encourage, motivate, and influence others to achieve strong technical and business outcomes
Manage multiple programs, launches, and priorities with composure and accountability
Travel domestically and internationally as needed
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Instrument Panels, Floor Consoles, Decorative Trim, and Interior Lighting development
Subsystem expertise in injection-molded trim, foam-in-place, thermoformed skins, and cut-and-sew wrapped substrates
Detailed knowledge of performance requirements, applicable regulations, and standard processes for interior cockpit components
Proven experience supporting programs from early development through launch
DFSS Black Belt certification
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills across all organizational levels
Ability to lead with a high degree of autonomy while remaining accountable for results
Master of Science in Engineering
Design release or manufacturing engineering experience in Instrument Panels, Floor Consoles, Decorative Trim, Outlets, and Interior Lighting
DFSS Master Black Belt
