Staff Meal Cook

Join the culinary team at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, where fresh, seasonal cuisine meets one of Virginia’s most beautiful vineyard settings. We’re seeking an experienced Staff Meal Cook to take primary responsibility for preparing the daily meal for our team.

This is a daytime culinary position, scheduled 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. The beginning of each shift will be dedicated to preparing that day’s staff meal and completing any advance preparation needed for future staff meals. Once staff meal responsibilities are complete, this position will support the kitchen with prep or Tasting Room line work as assigned.

Unlike our event-focused culinary positions, this role is not responsible for event service or evening event execution.

What You’ll Do

• Take ownership of preparing and executing the daily staff meal 
• Begin each day by preparing, cooking, and setting up that day’s meal 
• Complete advance prep for upcoming staff meals as needed 
• Prepare meals that are thoughtful, consistent, and appropriate for feeding a busy hospitality team 
• Work creatively and efficiently with available ingredients while minimizing food waste 
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked workspace 
• Coordinate with culinary leadership regarding staff meal planning, ingredients, and prep needs 
• After staff meal responsibilities are complete, assist with Tasting Room prep or line work as assigned 
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, storage, and kitchen safety procedures 
• Contribute to a professional, organized, and collaborative kitchen environment 

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of professional cooking experience preferred 
• Strong prep, knife, and fundamental cooking skills 
• Ability to independently organize and execute a daily meal 
• Creativity and confidence preparing varied meals for a team 
• Strong time-management and organizational skills 
• Ability to utilize ingredients thoughtfully and minimize unnecessary waste 
• Comfortable transitioning from independent staff meal responsibilities to supporting Tasting Room culinary operations 
• Experience in a scratch, seasonal, or farm-to-table kitchen preferred 
• ServSafe certification recommended, but not required 
• Reliable availability for an 8:00 AM–4:00 PM schedule, including weekends as needed 

We will train you on our systems and standards, but we’re looking for someone who can take ownership of staff meal from day one and then jump in to support the rest of the culinary team as needed.
