Job Description - Staff Technical Program Manager- Unity Catalog

P-1489

Platform & Product Experiences | Shape How Databricks Executes at Scale

At Databricks, Staff TPMs don’t just run programs — they define how the company executes at scale. This role sits at the center of our highest-priority platform and product investments, partnering across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams to bring foundational capabilities to market globally.

You will lead complex, high-visibility programs where the path isn’t fully defined, align senior stakeholders, and build the operating models that scale execution across the company.

The Impact You’ll Make

You will own delivery of some of Databricks’ most important initiatives and programs that reach tens of thousands of enterprise customers worldwide. You will influence roadmap decisions, drive execution across organizations, and ensure launches translate into real customer adoption and business impact.

Examples of programs you may lead include:

  • Driving the evolution and adoption of Unity Catalog as the foundation for data governance across the platform

  • Scaling core platform experiences that define how customers interact with Databricks (e.g., workspace, identity, access, and cross-product workflows)

  • Leading cross-functional initiatives that unify product experiences across data, AI, and governance capabilities

What You’ll Own

  • End-to-End Program Leadership: Own complex, cross-functional programs from initial scoping through launch and adoption. Define program structure, drive execution, and hold teams accountable to clear outcomes.

  • Cross-Organizational Alignment: Align engineering, product, design, field, legal, and marketing around a shared plan. Manage dependencies, resolve conflicts, and keep execution on track.

  • Product Launch & Enterprise Adoption: Partner with field teams, solutions architects, and customer success to drive successful launches. Build early access programs, capture customer feedback, and translate it into execution priorities.

  • Operational Excellence: Identify where the organization is losing speed, design scalable processes, and drive adoption across teams. Build systems that outlast individual programs.

  • Executive Communication: Own communication with senior leadership. Provide clear updates, highlight risks, and enable fast, well-informed decision-making.

  • Data-Driven Execution: Define success metrics upfront. Track progress rigorously and use data to guide decisions and demonstrate impact.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years leading large-scale, cross-functional programs in enterprise software or B2B technology

  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end product launches across multiple geographies and functions

  • Demonstrated ability to bring structure to ambiguous, fast-moving environments

  • Experience influencing roadmap and prioritization, not just delivery

  • Credibility with both engineers and executives; strong communication skills with VP and C-level stakeholders

  • Track record of building scalable processes and operating models

  • Strong instincts for risk management, escalation, and stakeholder alignment

  • Experience defining and tracking success metrics; familiarity with SQL or dashboards is a plus

  • Experience operating with high autonomy and ownership in ambiguous, high-stakes environments

Preferred

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Background in data platforms, governance systems, or developer-facing products

  • Familiarity with Databricks or similar large-scale data ecosystems

  • Experience scaling both 0→1 programs and mature systems

  • Advanced degree in a technical field

Why This Role is Unique

This role sits at the center of Databricks’ core platform investments, with direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape how the company executes. You will work on high-impact programs, influence key decisions, and build systems that scale across the organization.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision)

  • 401(k) plan

  • Equity awards

  • Flexible time off

  • Paid parental leave and family planning support

  • Gym reimbursement

  • Annual personal development fund

  • Work headphones reimbursement

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Business travel accident insurance

  • Mental wellness resources
