Job Description - Station Manager

General Summary:


The Station Manager will work with the executive team to oversee the company's local office and related P&L responsibilities. This position will be responsible for implementing suggestions to increase overall efficiency, reduce expenses, and maximize profitability. The Station Manger will also have the opportunity to impact processes, strategies, tactics and procedures to meet internal and external client requirement, as the role will be relied upon to leverage best-in-class practices and technology utilization, while containing costs and capitalizing on improvement opportunities. This position will need to quickly gain an understanding of the business and the overall mission and growth strategy, establishing relationships with the senior executive team. The Station Manager will lead local market business development including overseeing growth and operations management for all products and all applicable budgeting and system utilizations, while implementing the strategic goals of the company. This role will report directly to the Regional Manager, Vice President and President.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Strategically plans, develops, and implements organization policies, goals and compliance directives.

  • Develop, implement and utilize company KPI's on a daily/weekly/monthly basis within the operations.

  • Meet cost, productivity, and accuracy based on agreed time bound targets.

  • Review activity, operations, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations.

  • Review station activity report to ascertain data required for planning station operations.

  • Implement and maintain operations processes and procedures, reporting on performance and initiating improvements for operations.

  • Provide direction, development and leadership to managers and supervisors

  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements

  • Implements, manages and provides continued development of key clients, including primary customer-facing responsibilities as it relates to freight forwarding.

  • Responsible for relationship management and operations support to ensure successful long-term business relationship with key clients.

  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace. Comply with instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others by adhering to safe work procedures. Cooperate with management in fulfilment of its legislative and compliance obligations.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Requirements:



  • 5+ years in equivalent position

  • 3 years dynamic and client-facing business development executive

  • Ability to acquire TSA certification

  • Ability to manage P&L and margin management

  • Using information as a strategic asset

  • A self-starter with the ability to collaborate across operations and business functions

  • Enabler of peer organization with innovative technical solutions

  • Strong people management skills

  • 3PL/Warehousing/ Logistics experience

  • Analytical skills and proficiency in cost benefit analysis

  • Supply chain management and Freight Forwarding experience

  • Transportation and Wrehouse Dangerous Goods Certification (preferred)

  • ITAR Certification (preferred)

  • Comfortable managing to KPI's and understanding productivity and how to best measure

  • Strategic thinking in a rapidly changing environment and experience working through technology led transformation

  • Verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership managing an organization and a team player; positive attitude capable of engaging deeply in analysis

  • High degree of professionalism and integrity


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business or related field preferred

  • Eight years of progressive experience, including 5 years of management experience
