Steel Shipping Lead
Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Shift: First Shift
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: Starts at $26.00 (Higher rates available depending on experience)
We are seeking an experienced Shipping Lead to oversee steel loadout operations in a fast-paced structural steel fabrication environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and on-time shipments while leading and supporting the shipping team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily steel loadout operations and shipping activities
- Ensure materials are safely loaded, secured, and shipment-ready
- Verify load accuracy, material markings, and shipping documentation
- Coordinate with logistics, production, and shop teams to meet delivery schedules
- Maintain accurate load tickets and shipping records using production/shipping software
- Train and support new team members
- Lead daily team safety meetings and enforce safety standards
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements
- Provide hands-on leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel material handling or shipping operations
- At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience operating overhead cranes, telehandlers, vertical mast lifts, and forklifts
- Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar production/shipping software preferred
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
