Steel Shipping Supervisor – Loadout Operations

Starting Pay: $26.00/hour, with higher pay available based on experience
Position Summary
Hiring a Steel Shipping Supervisor to coordinate the movement and shipment of structural steel from the fabrication facility. This role combines hands-on material handling with team leadership, shipment coordination, documentation, and safety oversight.
What You’ll Do
- Direct daily steel loadout and shipping activities.
- Confirm steel is properly identified, positioned, secured, and ready for delivery.
- Check material markings, load contents, and shipping paperwork for accuracy.
- Work with logistics, production, and shop personnel to keep deliveries on schedule.
- Complete load tickets and maintain shipping records using production/shipping software.
- Train and assist new employees with department procedures and equipment.
- Lead daily safety discussions and reinforce required safety practices.
- Monitor workflow and recommend improvements to shipping and loadout processes.
- Provide hands-on direction to the team in a busy structural steel manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel shipping or material handling.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience operating:
- Overhead cranes
- Telehandlers
- Vertical mast lifts
- Forklifts
- Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar production/shipping software preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple loads, deadlines, and production requirements.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, accuracy, and quality.
