We need more than a strong fabricator. We need a shop leader who can turn multiple project demands into a realistic production plan, develop people, catch problems early, and keep steel moving safely and efficiently without sacrificing quality. What You'll Own
- Daily and weekly fabrication schedules, production priorities, manpower, materials, equipment, and shop workflow.
- Leadership and development of Shop Foremen/leads, fabricators, welders, fitters, and shop personnel.
- Pre-fabrication review of drawings, revisions, weld requirements, materials, sequencing, and production readiness.
- Labor productivity, production progress, workmanship, rework, overtime, downtime, and on-time completion.
- Shop safety, housekeeping, equipment readiness, preventive maintenance, material flow, staging, and shipment readiness.
- Proactive coordination with Project Management, Detailing, Purchasing, Quality/Safety, Shipping, and Field Operations.
- Continuous improvement - practical changes that make the shop safer, more organized, more productive, and more predictable.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience preferred, with proven shop leadership responsibility.
- Strong fitting/welding/fabrication knowledge and the ability to read structural steel shop drawings and weld symbols fluently.
- Experience planning manpower and production across multiple fabrication packages and deadlines.
- Working knowledge of AWS requirements and structural-steel quality practices; AISC-certified-shop experience is a strong plus.
- Ability to use labor/productivity information to manage the shop - not just due dates.
- Experience with Tekla PowerFab, FabTrol, Bluebeam, ERP/MRP, or similar tools preferred.
- A visible, organized, accountable leader who develops people, communicates early, and solves problems instead of passing them along.
CompensationRecommended hiring range: $105,000-$130,000 base salary, depending on directly relevant structural-steel fabrication leadership experience, technical depth, and demonstrated people-management capability. Company benefits and any applicable incentive compensation are provided consistent with PSS policy and the final offer. If you know structural steel, can lead a fabrication team, and naturally think several steps ahead of production, we want to talk with you.
