Store Manager — High Country Ace Hardware

Laurel, Montana | Full-Time

High Country Ace Hardware is seeking an experienced, hands-on Store Manager to lead our Laurel Ace Hardware location. We are looking for a dependable retail leader who is passionate about customer service, team development, store operations, and helping neighbors find the right solutions for home improvement, hardware, lawn and garden, paint, plumbing, electrical, tools, grilling, and commercial needs. As Store Manager, you will oversee the daily operation of the store, support a helpful and knowledgeable team, drive sales and profitability, maintain strong merchandising and inventory practices, and ensure every customer receives the friendly personal service Ace Hardware is

known for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, schedule, and develop store associates to deliver excellent customer service every day.
  • Create a welcoming, safe, clean, and well-stocked shopping environment for customers and employees.
  • Drive store sales, customer loyalty, profitability, and operational performance.
  • Support strong product knowledge across departments including hardware, paint, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, tools, grilling, and seasonal categories.
  • Oversee inventory control, receiving, stocking, pricing, merchandising, promotional displays, and shrink reduction.
  • Ensure customers are greeted, assisted, and provided helpful recommendations for projects large and small.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Recruit, train, motivate, and hold team members accountable to store standards and expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable employment practices.
  • Represent High Country Ace Hardware positively in the Laurel community and build strong relationships with residential, commercial, and business-to-business customers.

Qualifications

·        

  • Previous retail management, assistant management, department lead, or supervisory experience required. Hardware, home improvement, farm and ranch, building supply, or hardlines retail experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, and motivate a team while setting a positive example on the sales floor.
  • Comfortable using store systems, reports, inventory tools, and basic business metrics.
  • Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, stock merchandise, and assist customers throughout the workday.
  • Commitment to providing helpful, neighborly service and supporting a locally owned business culture.
